At least: This means “the minimum amount”. So if 10-20 people went to a party, you would say “at least 10 people went to the party”.

Example: He was absent for at least half of the time.

 

On time: This is used when something/one is punctual.

Example: Japanese trains are always on time.

 

In fairness: This is used when you are trying to offer a balanced opinion.

Example: Although he made some mistakes, in fairness he did try to fix most of them.

 

Under the influence of...: this is used when someone is being influenced by someone/thing. It is usually used in a negative way to say someone has been drinking or taking drugs.

Example: The teenager was under the influence when he crashed into the tree.

 

To have (something) hanging above your head: This is when you have a problem which you can’t stop thinking about.

Example: I want to relax but I have an exam next week so I have that hanging above my head.

 

Beside the point: this is used when you want to say that the other person’s point is not relevant.

Example:  A) I think we should keep it, it looks really nice.

               B) That’s beside the point, it doesn’t work so we should send it back.

 

Far from...: This is used when you want to say that the reality is the opposite of what is usually thought.

Example: A) I thought that you didn’t like her.

              B) Far from it, I think she’s great.
